Evolution
With an objective to promote entrepreneurship and to carry out entrepreneurship development activities, various state governments have established state level ED institutions. Besides, 14 such state institutions which are known as either Centre for Entrepreneurship Development or Institute of Entrepreneurship Development, 4 national level institutes exist in the country. All these institutes are independent bodies and regularly carry out ED activities in their respective states. The activities and the efforts of these organizations have significantly improved the entrepreneurship environment in the country.
It was felt that for creating a stronger climate of entrepreneurial dynamism among people, in general, and stakeholders, in particular, it would be the right strategy to bring all these institutions under one umbrella, rather than they work in isolation, to yield positive results. Lot of research and innovations take place in the field of entrepreneurship at the state, national and international levels. Now unless one shares this useful information among the partner institutions the desired results cannot be achieved. To realize this, it was felt that a more focused and result-oriented approach could be adopted, yielding positive results, if all state and national level ED institutions come together.
In view of the significant results that would ensue on account of institutions coming together and operating from a common platform, as association called the Federation of Entrepreneurship Development Institutions (FEDI) was formed.
